Having just attended the FT Ukraine Investment Conference, we have a number of things to report...
Having just attended the Ukrainian Investment conference, we were glad to hear from the invited government representatives how dire the Ukraine is in need of real reform. On the other hand, what have they been doing for the last 20 years ?
The point is : Ukraine does not need ridiculous step by step mini reforms. The entire country is in an intractable economic downward spiral. What it really needs is for some bold politiican to come in and cut the Gordian Knot - forget all these reform programs. True change will come to the country when govrenment officials start behaving like leaders as opposed to Public Servants but who in fact only serve themselves.
Nevertheless, we have been invited back to talk with the government and to participate in a number of their national infrastructure projects ... we hope we can impress upon them that time is of the essence and that by failing to progress, Ukraine risks an economic implosion even further.
They know this as well - it is time for them to act boldly.
